Defenders of the Bastion
Addressing the Trojan Army, Hector said, "Honour the Gods, love your woman and defend your country!" In defending the bastion of Troy, he bravely faced the mighty Achilles, without regard of his impending death. Such is the likely ultimate sacrifice that soldiers endure in pursuit of their sworn duties and responsibilities.
Despite the passing of hundreds of years, the chivalric nature of soldiery remains intact up to these modern times. No profession can you find where the job description includes the prospect of loss of life in the performance of duty, except solely for soldiery (and police protection). No wonder, imbued in the heart of every soldier is the courage to face all odds against enemies of the state. All country-loving and self-respecting soldiers will attest to such a belief.
Our country is our own bastion. We hold dearly our own bastion because our lives and future defend on it. For it, we offer our strength, and even our lives to ensure the peace and stability of our institutions, as well as, the protection and preservation of life and property of our countrymen. What more actions or sacrifices can still be done to guarantee these ideals?
Perhaps, aside from swearing that we shall make the ultimate sacrifice whenever it becomes necessary, we must always be aware of our current situation...as to what lies ahead... and keep an alert stance, as well as, an open mind. Avoid infringements that poison our minds from making harmful decisions, and which we might regret afterwards. As soldiers, we are expected to think and act surely for the good and security of all people under refuge in our bastion.
So, don't fail with your sworn duty!
